Three Cheese Fondue

Total Time: 30 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1 1/2 cups dry wine
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/3 lb swiss emmenthaler cheese
  • 1/3 lb swiss gruyere
  • 1/3 lb swiss cheese, appenzeller
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • ground pepper
  • nutmeg
  • 2 loaves crusty italian bread or 2 loaves french bread

Recipe

  • 1 grate or shred cheeses and mix with flour.
  • 2 cut bread into 1" cubes (each cube should have crust on side).
  • 3 cut the garlic clove and rub the inside of the pot.
  • 4 place pot on stove and pour wine inches.
  • 5 heat wine over medium heat until it is hot but not boiling.
  • 6 add lemon juice and cheese mixture, stirring constantly with wooden spoon until the mixture has the appearance of a light creamy sauce.
  • 7 add pepper and nutmeg to taste.
  • 8 bring the sauce to a boil, then remove pot and place on a lighted burner on top of table.
