Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon butter (room temperature)
- 2 slices french bread
- 2 ounces gruyere, thinly sliced
- 3 sprigs fresh basil
Recipe
- 1 take cheese out of the refrigerator an hour ahead of time so that it may melt more evenly.
- 2 preheat the oven to 350, preheat the iron skillet over medium heat.
- 3 butter the outside of the bread, assemble sandwich with the basil in between the slices of cheese.
- 4 add 1/3 tablespoon of butter to the skillet and cook to brown.
- 5 lay the sandwich in the pan until it achieves a crusty brown side. about 1.5 minutes.
- 6 flip and cook for additional 30 to 45 seconds.
- 7 spread remaining butter the less brown side, and put in oven until cheese is melted as desired.
- 8 remove and let sit before devouring.
- 9 enjoy!
