Sheepherder Bread
Ingredients
- Servings: 18
- 1 1/2 cups sourdough starter
- 4 cups unbleached flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons shortening, melted
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
Recipe
- 1 into a large bowl, sift the dry ingredients, and dig a well in the center of the sourdough starter.
- 2 blend the dry mix into the starter from the edges with enough flour to knead until smooth and shiny.
- 3 place in greased bowl and let rise until almost double.
- 4 shape into 2 loaves and place in greased bread pans.
- 5 bake at 375 degrees f until done.
