Sour Cream Dill Bread

Total Time: 2 hrs 45 mins Preparation Time: 2 hrs Cook Time: 45 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 package yeast
  • 1/4 cup very warm water
  • 1 cup sour cream, room temperature
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons butter
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon dill weed
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 1/4-1 1/2 cups rye flour
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons water

Recipe

  • 1 dissolve yeast in warm water.
  • 2 in large mixing bowl,combine sour cream,egg,butter,salt,sugar,dill(5 and 1 cup flour.
  • 3 stir in yeast mixture.
  • 4 beat for 1 minute on medium,scraping sides of bowl often.
  • 5 stir in remaining flour,cheese and enough rye flour to make stiff dough.
  • 6 turn onto lightly floured surface and knead til smooth and elastic,about 5 minutes.
  • 7 place in buttered bowl,turn to butter top.
  • 8 cover and let rise in warm place until doubled (about 1 and 1/2 hours) punch dough down.
  • 9 shape in ball.
  • 10 place in buttered 8 inch round cake pan.
  • 11 brush with melted butter.
  • 12 cover and let rise,til doubled (about 1 hour) beat egg and water and brush over top of bread.
  • 13 bake at 375 degrees,35 to 40 minutes or until loaf sounds hollow when tapped.
  • 14 remove from pan and allow to cool on wire rack.
