Streusel Topped Apple Bread

Ingredients

- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup flour, all purpose
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup walnuts, chopped
- 2 cups flour, all purpose
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 1/4 cups apples, chopped
- 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
Recipe
- 1 preheat oven to 350°. butter a 9x5 inch loaf pan or line the pan with waxed or parchment paper.
- 2 streusel topping:.
- 3 stir together brown sugar, cinnamon, and flour. add butter and blend with a fork until the mixture resembles course crumbs. stir in nuts. set aside.

- 5 whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl and set aside.
- 6 cream butter; gradually add sugar and beat until light and fluffy.
- 7 beat in eggs.
- 8 add dry ingredients, alternating with buttermilk and mix just until smooth.
- 9 fold in apples and nuts.
- 10 pour batter into prepared loaf pan. top with streusel mixture.
- 11 bake 50 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
