Streusel Topped Apple Bread

Total Time: 1 hr 20 mins Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 50 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 10
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup flour, all purpose
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 2 cups flour, all purpose
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 1/4 cups apples, chopped
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350°. butter a 9x5 inch loaf pan or line the pan with waxed or parchment paper.
  • 2 streusel topping:.
  • 3 stir together brown sugar, cinnamon, and flour. add butter and blend with a fork until the mixture resembles course crumbs. stir in nuts. set aside.

  • 5 whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl and set aside.
  • 6 cream butter; gradually add sugar and beat until light and fluffy.
  • 7 beat in eggs.
  • 8 add dry ingredients, alternating with buttermilk and mix just until smooth.
  • 9 fold in apples and nuts.
  • 10 pour batter into prepared loaf pan. top with streusel mixture.
  • 11 bake 50 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
