Southern Butter Rolls

Ingredients
- 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 1/2 tablespoons active dry yeast
- 1 1/2 cups cold water
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Recipe
- 1 mix together flour, sugar, salt and instant yeast.
- 2 mix in shortening.
- 3 mix in water.
- 4 turn out onto a lightly floured surface and knead by hand for 20 minutes.
- 5 cover dough with vegetable oil, cover and let rise for one hour.
- 6 form 24 smooth round rolls and place in greased 13x9" baking pan.
- 7 let rise again for 45 minutes.
- 8 bake at 400 degrees for 12 to 14 minutes.
