Rogene's Bread Pudding With Vanilla Sauce

Ingredients

  • Servings: 12
  • 1/2 gallon milk
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 5 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla
  • bread, sliced
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup milk, plus
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 4 -5 tablespoons vanilla

Recipe

  • 1 to make bread pudding: mix everything but raisins. set aside.
  • 2 in a 9x13 inch baking dish layer bread halfway up. pour mixture over. sprinkle raisins on top. bake at 350 degrees for approx 45-60 minutes, checking often for a knife to come out clean.
  • 3 to make sauce: heat all ingredients except the vanilla over medium heat, stirring constantly. bring to a boil and boil for 5 minutes. remove from heat and add vanilla.
  • 4 spoon yourself out some bread pudding and top it off with the sauce and some cool whip.
