The Best Banana Bread (and It's Healthy! Ww Friendly!)

Total Time: 1 hr 10 mins Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 40 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup butter (softened)
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 4 bananas (medium, overripe)
  • 1/3 cup applesauce (no sugar added)
  • 1/3 cup mini chocolate chip

Recipe

  • 1 set oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2 combine dry ingredients.
  • 3 in separate bowl cream together softened butter, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
  • 4 mash bananas well with fork. stir applesauce into mashed bananas. stir this mixture into creamed butter mixture.
  • 5 add flour mixture to banana mixture until well moistened. at this point i often let the batter sit for about 20 minutes in a warm area. this increases the yummy banana flavor!
  • 6 stir in chocolate chips.
  • 7 spray a bundt pan with cooking spray and lightly flour (loaf pan works also, but i definitely prefer a bundt pan, the bread cooks faster and more evenly). pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 40-45 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean, loaf pan takes 60-65 minutes.
