Sweet Rye Bread

Ingredients
- 1 cup milk, scalded
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 3 teaspoons yeast
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1 1/2 cups rye meal
- 2 cups flour
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 teaspoon caraway seed
Recipe
- 1 combine hot milk, molasses, brown sugar and salt. and butter.
- 2 cool mixture to lukewarm; . add yeast to cooled milk.
- 3 add flours to make a stiff dough.
- 4 let double; punch down.
- 5 put cornmeal under.
- 6 brush with egg and 1 tablespoon water.
- 7 sprinkle with caraway seed.
- 8 slash the dough before baking.
