Southern Corn Cakes

Total Time: 30 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • vegetable oil, to fry cakes in

Recipe

  • 1 place cornmeal in a bowl and scalt it b adding the boiling water. allow to cool slightly. add the remaining ingredients and mix until smooth.
  • 2 pour by large spoonfuls into hot oil in a frying pan. when cakes are brown and crisp around edges (2 to 3 minutes) flip and cook the other side.
  • 3 serve immediately.
