Savory Italian Bread

Total Time: 25 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 1 medium loaf italian bread
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/8 teaspoon onion salt

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 400.
  • 2 cut bread to but not through the bottom into 12 slices.
  • 3 place on a baking sheet.
  • 4 combine parmesan, mayonnaise,basil, garlic powder, oregano and onion salt in a small bowl, and mix well.
  • 5 spread the mixture between the slices and over top of bread.
  • 6 bake bread until golden, about 12 minutes.
  • 7 you can also add 1/2 cup chopped cooked shrimp to the mayo mixture before spreading it on the bread, add a few drops of lemon juice and worcestershire sauce for extra flavor.
  • 8 variation: butter can be used in place of mayo, and any cheese can be substituted, romano, mozzarella, swiss, cheddar.
