Surprise Meatballs

Ingredients

• 1 egg (slightly beaten)
• 1 lb ground chuck
• 1/4 cup minced onion
• 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
• 1/8 teaspoon pepper
• 1 (10 ounce) jar maraschino cherries, well drained and cut in half
• 1 cup catsup
• 1 cup grape jelly

Recipe

• 1 combine meat, beaten egg, bread crumbs and pepper.
• 2 make into 1 to 1-1/4 inch meatballs, pressing 1/2 of a cherry into each meatball.
• 3 brown meatballs.
• 4 for sauce: stir catsup into grape jelly in a medium saucepan.
• 5 heat and stir till melted.
• 6 add browned meatballs.
• 7 cook on very low heat for about 1 hour.
• 8 serve hot or cold.
